So I got to see the last hour of my friends' performance and the concert venue was intimate and there was room for dancing! It was standing room only however, I didn't mind.

Originally the cover charge was $15 at the door and $12 in advance but when you added the fees, it would cost $16.72, more than the door price. Singer and main songwriter Dave Wakeling brings his line-up of the English Beat back to the Bay Area for shows at the Raven Theater in Healdsburg and the Cornerstone in Berkeley. The host at the restaurant tried to contact the concert venue but no one answered so he finally decided to let me walk through to the concert venue but put a wristband on me to indicate I was of drinking age, thank you very much! Unfortunately, time was running out and I just wanted to watch my friends perform so at the entrance to the concert venue, I was told there was only 30 minutes left to the show and that they would only charge me $10. I was lucky to find a parking spot about 1/2 a block away on Shattuck! Talk about Parking Karma! Then when I came back on Uber to Cornerstone, I went to the box office on Durant and the doors were locked and the box office was closed at 11 pm! The sign on the box office said to enter the concert venue through the restaurant. I decided to park my car near Cornerstone and take Uber to the first concert and Uber back to Cornerstone so I wouldn't have to find parking. I had to attend another concert the same night at almost the same time so this was my second stop for the night. This was my first time here and I'd love to come back and try the food and the drinks as I was only here for 60 minutes in the concert venue to see my friends perform.

Wakeling disbanded The English Beat in 1983 after their third album, Special Beat Service, but would stay active with English Beat toaster Ranking Roger in the hit-making band General Public. The band donated all the profits from their highly successful single version of "Stand Down Margaret" to the Committee for Nuclear Disarmament and donated their music to causes including the anti-nuclear benefit album Life in The European Theatre as well as lending their voice to the Special AKA's anthemic song of freedom "Free Nelson Mandela."
